Q: What are the Fines for Overdue materials?
A:

Circulating Books

  • Overdue fines on 21-day checkouts are $.25 per day per book. Maximum fine is
    $9.00 per book.
  • Overdue fines on 7-day loans are $1.00 per day per book. Maximum fine is $9.00
    per book.

Reserve Materials

  • $5.00 per day per item up to the cost of the item.  Reserve items may be books, videos, CDs, DVDs, or other materials.
  • The fine for reserve materials supersede any other fines.

Periodicals

  • $5.00 per day per item up to a maximum of $15.00 per item.

Videos (VHS and DVD)

  • $1.00 per day per item up to $9.00.

Audio Books (cassette and CD)

  • $1.00 per day per item up to $9.00.

Other CD and DVD Material

  • $1.00 per day per item up to $9.00.

Lost Book or Damage Charges:

  • Price of the book, any fines accrued, and a $5.00 processing fee.

WARNING: All library materials overdue more than three weeks or still overdue at the end of the semester will lead to a library hold being placed on your record. Fines exceeding $10.00 will also result in a Student Record Hold. After six months, materials may not be accepted for return by the library and the patron will be billed for fines, book cost and processing fee.

Q: How do I borrow or renew materials from the library?

Audio & Video

Videotapes and other audiovisual material may be checked out for 48 hours or viewed in the Library Computer Lab. Faculty can reserve a video, by calling 442-4600 ext. 8141.

Circulating Books

Located in West Wing. Circulating books may be checked out for 21-days or 7 -days, depending on the item. Ten books may be borrowed at one time.

Renewing Circulating Materials

Books that have been checked out for 21-days may be renewed once for an additional 7 days, if no one has placed a hold on the item. 7-day checkout books may not be renewed. Items may be renewed in person, on the telephone, or through the library catalog.

Periodicals

The most curret issue of a magazine is displayed along the east wall of the Periodicals Room.  Periodicals must be used in the Library. Back issues of magazines and newspapers can be checked out at the Periodicals Desk for a two-hour period. Only four items will be checked out at one time per student.  Full-text articles from many periodicals are available through the library’s research databases.

Reference & Law Collection
Books in the Law Collection and Reference Room cannot be checked out. Materials must be used in the Library.

Reserve

Instructors can place materials on reserve by completing the Reserve Request Form. Students may request materials at the Reserve Desk in the Library. Most reserve materials may be checked out for two hours and must be used in the Library. The instructor who places the material on reserve determines exceptions to the two-hour checkout policy.  Only one reserve textbook may be checked out at a time. If a study guide or workbook is considered part of the textbook, these items may be checked out at the same time. Immediate renewal is not allowed.  Four articles or pamphlets may be checked out at one time. Instructors can remove reserve materials by completing the Remov e From Reserve Form.
