The Fresno City College
Model United Nations
The FCC Model United Nations (FCCMUN) program trains students in the skills of real-world diplomacy, and competes in college level conferences against students from two- and four-year colleges. Delegates play the roles of diplomats from UN member states, negotiating with students representing other countries, to advance their nations' agendas. Delegates must write clearly, think critically, bargain creatively, and speak passionately about their ideas, often while representing countries whose policies they personally oppose.
The Model UN is a program of national scope, and the FCCMUN competes against some of the best teams in the country. Delegates can earn credit by enrolling in Political Science 25: Model United Nations. Numerous FCC students have won awards for their work, and program veterans have transferred to numerous California State University and University of California campuses, as well as private universities like George Washington University and Brown University. Others have been Dean’s Medallion winners at FCC, and several are now serving as staff members on regional and national MUN conference organizations.
