Our Annual African American Graduation Celebration will be held on:
Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Fresno City College
Ceremony: 1:00 p.m., Old Administration Building Auditorium (OAB)
Reception: 2:00 p.m., East Courtyard (OAB)
Registration Deadline: Friday, April 28, 2017
Graduation Workshop and Rehearsal: Friday, May 5, 2017
at 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm, OAB Auditorium
All graduates must attend the workshop and rehearsal.
Graduates are required to arrive by 12:00 pm at the OAB Auditorium.
Graduates must be prepared to form the procession line by 12:45 pm or they will not be able to participate. Fresno City College Ambassadors will be available to assist graduates in the process.
Graduates will be asked to fill out a 3x5 card with their name, major (degree or certificate) and a “Thank You” message of their choice. The “Thank you” messages cannot be more than 25 words. Graduates will be asked to read their “Thank You” message during the graduation ceremony when their name is announced.
Graduates who may need special accommodations for seating due to a disability must inform a Fresno City College Ambassador for assistance.
To participate in the FCC African American Graduation Celebration 2017, students must complete and submit the free registration form online before April 28, 2017.
Following the graduation celebration, we invite you and your family to continue celebrating with us at the reception. The reception will be held in the East Courtyard of the OAB immediately following the graduation. Light refreshments will be served and entertaining music will be provided. All all welcome!
For guests who would like to attend the reception that will immediately follow the ceremony, please register at the link below. No reservation is needed for the graduation ceremony.
THE KENTE SASH
The Kente Sash is a “gift” that each graduate will receive the day of the celebration. Graduates are to wear the Kente Sash during the graduation celebration.
No cap and gown is required. Please dress in professional attire (suit and tie, dresses, slacks, heels, etc.). Graduates will have their picture taken.
There will be free/relaxed parking available in campus parking lots. Guests with Wheel Chairs- Handicapped seating is available in the theatre. Please seek usher assistance.
Guests with Hearing Impairments- Sign-language interpretation services will be available throughout the graduation celebration. An interpreter will be positioned on stage.
