The Band that went to the Supreme Court, presentation and concert
4/3/2017 12:00 PM
Portland’s The Slants is the first and only all-Asian American dance rock band in the world. For the past six years they have been embroiled in a court case to trademark their name, a case that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. Band leader Simon Tam will tell us how they fought to trademark the band’s name when at first they were told it was racist and derogatory. They will then pick up their instruments and give FCC a special live performance.
