Specht Headed to Hastings College
Fresno City College softball player Sara Specht will continue her career at Hastings College in Nebraska after signing her letter of intent at the FCC softball field on Friday afternoon.
“Sara has the total package,” said Rams softball coach Rhonda Williams. “She is an awesome athlete and has won all kinds of academic awards, it’s easy to recommend to somebody who has a great attitude and student. Hastings is getting a tremendous teammate and a great defensive player.”
Specht played shortstop the past two seasons for the Rams and this season batted .273 with 27 hits including seven doubles and two home runs. She also scored 19 runs with four stolen bases.
Specht, who attended Immanuel High, is a two-time first team all-Central Valley Conference player. She not only shined on the field but excelled in the classroom. Specht was recently named to the 2017 All-State Academic team and was a Torch of Excellence “Torchlighter” award recipient for attaining a 3.5 grade point average or higher last year.
Specht noted that she is looking forward to playing softball at Hastings College.
“I visited last fall and the minute I stepped onto the campus, I was like I belong here,” said Specht. “I hoped they would sign me and they did.”
Hastings College is an NAIA school and a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
