POLICE INCIDENT
Yesterday, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Fresno Police Department pursued an alleged stolen vehicle onto our campus. The single suspect abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled on foot near the Humanities Building. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Helicopter assisted the ground officers with the chase, and continued to follow the fleeing suspect coordinating the foot chase. The suspect was then taken into custody near the Language Arts Building. The incident was quickly resolved and no injuries were reported.
While this is not the type of activity we want on our beautiful campus, I am pleased that the suspect was swiftly apprehended, had no weapon, and no one was injured! This is an example of great policing by the Fresno Police Department with assistance from a SCCCD District Service Officer (DSO). We recognized that the campus would like to be notified as soon as possible when these types of events occur on campus. We will continue to strengthen our communication and notification process. We appreciate your concerns and your willingness to remain calm during these unfortunate incidents. Thank you!
