An Update Regarding COVID-19
Office of the President
Message from the President
Good afternoon colleagues,
A lot has changed in a short period of time. Our nation’s President has changed travel restrictions, NBA has suspended play, and a host of events have been canceled in our state and across our nation. I understand you are anxious about this evolving situation. You have probably already seen the message from our Governor with new guidelines from the California Department of Health.
As you know, this situation is fluid and continues to change. We will send out additional campus wide messages as we learn more.
I am thankful for our Academic Senate for meeting yesterday to discuss plans on how we might move towards a remote delivery of instruction. As you can imagine this is not an easy endeavor. I am also grateful to our administrators and classified professionals who continue to plan for preparedness. We understand that many of you and our students are anxious due to the uncertainty of this situation.
Tomorrow I am involved with a Valley-wide presidents meeting on this issues. We are planning for various scenarios and understand the complexity of our mission to deliver education whether that be a theory class, a welding class, a fire academy class or participation in a championship basketball tournament. Our goal is to work together with our campus leaders, our state and local health officials to keep us safe and continue on as much as possible in our normal lives.
As we gain more information we will share. Early this week, during our Incident Response Team meeting, we began planning an open forum which will be made available via live stream to answer how new state and local guidance will impact operations at FCC. This live stream is tentatively set for tomorrow, Friday, March 13 at 1 p.m. We will sent out more information including the link is a separate email.
I want to remind people to stay calm.
Read the information that has been provided by the State. Read it yourself.
We will continue to update you with information about COVID-19 on the Fresno City College website. The direct link is www.fresnocitycollege.edu/covid-19 or follow the link from the front page.
