Special Message from the President
Good morning colleagues,
As we all continue to monitor the fires in our neighboring mountain communities, we know that the fire has added another layer of stress and anxiety to an already very difficult time. We hope you and your family are safe. With the various fires in the Central Valley, we are contacting our campus community to share important resources.
Faculty, if you have students who are affected, we ask you to be as flexible as possible with options for completing coursework. As for any emergency a student might face which impacts course completion, a case-by-case and compassionate approach will allow you to determine which of the available protocols (an extension, incomplete, etc.) is most appropriate for their situation.
Students who have been directly affected by the fire have been asked to contact their instructors regarding their situation, so you are aware of the possibility of their inability to participate in courses during this time. Students may also be referred to the Ram Pantry for groceries to assist with any food insecurities. In addition, counseling services are available through our online intake form for Psychological Services or by telephone at 559.443.8687.
Students will received a message alerting them of resources available to them if they are affected. Likewise, if you are affected by the fires in any way, please know that there are community and District resources available.
Please go to the Creek Fire Emergency Resource web page to find additional information on services available through our District and outside agencies. We will provide further information as it becomes available.
If you have any further questions, please reach out to the Office of the President by emailing Kim Quesada at kim.quesada@fresnocitycollege.edu or call 559.489.2212 to see how Fresno City College may best be able to provide support. Our priority is your safety and the safety of your family. We are here to support you.
Please keep the brave first responders, those who care for the injured, volunteers, and everyone impacted by the Creek Fire in your thoughts and prayers.
Stay well,
Dr. Carole Goldsmith
