Special Message: March 18, 2021
Office of the President
FCC Colleagues,
In response to recent attacks against our Asian-American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, Fresno City College acknowledges and condemns this most recent violence in county. Because of this, College Council today voted unanimously to support the attached statement.
Fresno City College continues to stand in support of the AAPI community and others who have come under attack since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no place in our society for those who would seek to persecute and victimize others simply because of their race, skin color, cultural heritage, ethnic origin, religion, LGBTQ affiliation, gender and/or other reasons.
I trust you will join me in strong support of our AAPI community and denounce the hostile attacks in recent months. Our College continues to provide counseling and other support to students who need assistance due to the impact of this current crisis. The College reaffirms its commitment to the safety and well-being of AAPI community members and assures them that they are not alone.
Additionally, please plan to join the Stand with Asians! event on March 25 which will focus on these heinous attacks. This event, sponsored by the Asian American Faculty & Staff Association, will feature a panel of FCC Asian American faculty and staff and community members.
Stay well,
Dr. Carole Goldsmith
President
