Special Message: August 3, 2021
Office of the President
Good afternoon,
Last night our Chancellor sent out a message districtwide regarding a new mask requirement. To clarify the message for campus use, effective tomorrow, Wednesday, August 4, 2021, the college will require employees, students and visitors to wear facial coverings while indoors in all buildings. This will also pertain to all buildings in the State Center Community College District.
To reiterate the Chancellor’s message, “facial coverings must be worn in common areas indoors, such as hallways, breakrooms, restrooms, elevators and stairwells as well as open area offices and cubicles, conference rooms, and in single person offices when more than one person is present. You are not required to wear a facial covering when you are the sole occupant of a room, such as your office.”
This is also a reminder, if you are feeling ill, please stay home. Your health and the health of our community remain our priority. Please continue to practice universal health and safety practices and follow the guidance issued by the California Department of Public Health and the information on the Fresno County Department of Public Health website.
Although SCCCD is not currently requiring students or employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition to entering District campuses or facilities, we strongly encourage all faculty, staff and students to voluntarily receive one of the COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as possible to help prevent the spread of the virus and help normalize our lives. Here are details on how to schedule your appointment. Please note that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) is reporting that current authorized vaccines work on all circulating COVID-19 variants, including the Delta Variant.
Sincerely,
Dr. Carole Goldsmith
President
