Campus Message: January 23, 2023
Good Afternoon Colleagues,
I have exciting news to share with you about FCC sculpting instructor, Caleb Duarte.
Caleb is one of three new members appointed to the California Arts Council by Governor Gavin Newsom. He will be serving with 10 other members who will set priorities and policies for the agency’s local assistance grantmaking.
Caleb has been an instructor at Fresno City College since 2018. He is Co-Founder of E.D.E.L.O, an experimental art practice of diverse disciplines that was initiated in Chiapas, Mexico in 2010. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Caleb has also been selected to create a mixed media mosaic mural for the Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
The piece titled “You Have Arrived” was chosen by the Fresno Arts Council based on its artistic vision, budget and representation of the cultural diversity and spirit of the Central Valley, according to a news release. The final design will be unveiled at a later date.
He has had group and solo exhibitions throughout California and globally including Mumbai, India; Chiapas, Mexico; Santiago de Cuba, Cuba; Montréal, Canada; Frankfurt, Germany; Pienza, Italy, and many other countries.
Please join me in congratulating Caleb on these appointments!
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Pimentel
