Registered Nursing Associate Degree Program (ADN)
Fresno City College has the largest community college Associate Degree Nursing Program in California and the second largest program in the USA. It is designed to educate students at the basic technical level of nursing practice, obtain an Associate of Science degree, be eligible to take the NCLEX (National Nursing Licensing Examination) and work in a structured health care setting.

Challenge/Advanced Placement for Military Personnel
Individuals who have held Military Health Care Occupations may achieve advanced placement into the second semester of the Registered Nursing Program with documentation of education and experience qualifying them for the specific Military Health Care Occupation and upon successful completion of the challenge exam, dosage calculation exam and skills competency evaluation.

The California Board of Registered Nursing has stated that as of February 2020, the status of the program is “Continued Approval of Prelicensure Nursing Program for Fresno City College Associate Degree Nursing Program.” The 2022/2023 NCLEX pass rate of the program was 74.26%
Board of Registered Nursing - Continuing Approval
The registered nursing program is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing which ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
We are pleased to inform our community that the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) will be conducting an approval visit to our nursing program December 3 – 5, 2024. This visit is part of the BRN's ongoing efforts to ensure that nursing programs across the state meet the highest standards of education and training.
The continuing approval process is essential to maintaining the quality and integrity of our program, and we welcome this opportunity to showcase the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. We encourage all interested parties, including current and prospective students, alumni, healthcare partners, and community members, to be aware of this important event. Effective July 13, 2023, this nursing program is a candidate for initial accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. This candidacy status expires on July 13, 2025.
