English for Multilingual Language (EMLS) Assessment for placement

For students whose first language is not English, students can take the Guided Student Self-Placement assessment to determine which course is most appropriate for their skill level. 

Guided Student Self-Placement Directions for EMLS placement

1. Read the descriptions of the courses, the expectations and the time commitments.
2. Look at the reading samples carefully.
3. Match your own ability level to the sample you feel most confident about and able to understand clearly.
