Hand to God Fundraiser

puppet hand reaching for human hand

Studio Theatre

November 20, 2024 at 7:30 PM

Shy, inquisitive student Jason finds an outlet for his burgeoning creativity at the Christian Puppet Ministry in the devoutly religious, reletively quiet town of Cypress, Texas, until his hand puppet Tyrone - once soft-spoken - takes on a shocking and dangerously irreverent personality all its own. As Tyrone's influence over Jason steadily grows, Hand to God explores the startlingly fragile nature of faith, morality, and the ties that bind us.

Mr. Burns - Fundraiser

decorative

Theatre

March 5, 2025 at 7:30 PM

What happens to pop culture after the fall of human civilization? What about 7 years after the fall? Or even 75 years? Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play, seeks to find out.

In this post-catastrophic future where the grid has failed, society has crumbled, and memories can no longer be stored on hard drives, a group of survivors come together to rebuild their world through the life-affirming act of telling stories under the stars during which time they begin to recount an episode of The Simpsons, "Cape Feare."

Over the course of the play's three acts and three-quarters of a century timespan, we see the evolution of storytelling, and one Simpsons episode evolves into a myth and legend for a post-apocalyptic world.

Grasmere - Fundraiser

decorative

Studio Theatre

March 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM

Dorothy and William Woodsworth were brother and sister, living in the Lake District. Their history is only slightly covered in the history books, while their writing reveals much more about their lives and longings. They lived in a small cottage in Grasmere. They both wrote - William (deemed "the father of Romantic Poetry") had his poems, while Dorothy had her journals.

Grasmere is a play about love, loss and passions. Part fact, part fiction.

Four friends discover each other when their lives begin to unravel - addictions take hold, love develops, and Dorothy finds herself experiencing emotions that she can't begin to describe.

The almost true story of poets in longing.

Puffs

Purple and Gold flag that reads Puffs

Theatre

March 1, 2, 8 & 9, 2024 at 7:30 PM
March 3 & 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM

The New York Times proclaims Puffs “A fast-paced romp through the ‘Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic.’ For Potterphiliacs who grew up alongside Potter and are eager to revisit that world, Puffs exudes a jovial, winking fondness for all things Harry!”
This clever and inventive play “never goes more than a minute without a laugh” (Nerdist) giving you a new look at a familiar adventure from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers “who are so lovable and relatable, you’ll leave the theater wishing they were in the stories all along” (Hollywood Life). Their “hilariously heartfelt!” (Metro) and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.
Puffs is not authorized, sanctioned, licensed or endorsed by J.K Rowling, Warner Bros. or any person or company associated with the Harry Potter books, films or play.
Note to Parents: This show may not be suitable for young children as it contains adult language.

A Body In The O

Man on a motorized scooter

Theatre

October 13, 2023 at 7:30pm

A night with renowned performance artist Tim Miller

Climb along with performer Tim Miller inside the giant O of the Hollywood sign - or as Shakespeare conjured it "the wooden O" of the theatre, where we must try to take on the big themes of our time - as Miller performs a new work created from his brand new book of performances and stories A Body in the O.
Jumping off from a day when Miller scrambled up inside of the O of the Hollywood sign and imagined the performance space tree house of his dreams , A Body in the O journeys through the hoops of the Department of Homeland Security, a queer boy's truthtelling, the human heart's mysterious Os and finally a wedding day as Miller imagines the full possibility of performance that changes the world inside these wooden Os!
Bring your copy of Tim Miller's book to be signed at the book signing following the performance.

This fundraiser for Theatre Arts students is brought to you by the FCC Office of Student Equity and Success.

Body Maps

Theatre

October 14, 2023 at 2:00pm

Renowned artist Tim Miller guides this devised student theatre performance

Body Maps is an original performance created from the stories of the performers themselves-from their dreams, memories and desires -as they map that charged border between our bodies and society...our narratives and our politics...our selves and others. Telling our own story doesn't separate us from other people, it connects us; it makes the theatre of right now.

Love/Sick

Theatre

November 11, 12, 18, 19 at 7:30pm
November 13, 20 at 2:00pm

Love/Sick by playwright John Cariani is a collection of nine quirky and often sad vignettes about the joy and pain of falling in and out of love. Each vignette tells the story of one couple in the midst of passion and despair and together they show the cycle of the highs and lows of relationships.

“I'm not sentimental--I'm as romantic as you are. The idea, you know,
is that the sentimental person thinks things will last--the romantic
person has a desperate confidence that they won't.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise
