Dr. Mario Girón received his PhD in English with an emphasis in Human Rights from UC Davis on June 2024. He has taught English and writing classes at both UC and at community college campuses. He was inspired to pursue higher education due to the impact of his own community college professors and wanted to guide and mentor students in the same way.
In the classroom, Dr. Girón focuses on multi-draft approaches in writing to help students become better writers. He teaches students holistically, understanding that they bring their backgrounds, beliefs, struggles, and talents to the classroom. This way of teaching stems from his own personal background as a first-gen student born to immigrant parents from El Salvador.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, and playing board and card games.
