Dr. McMichael is a husband, father, and grandfather whose passions are family and teaching. After more than a decade in the classroom (he began his career in Pennsylvania in 2010), he still can't believe that his “job” is to talk to smart people about cool stuff!
In his teaching, Dr. McMichael loves helping students develop their critical thinking skills through conversations about some of philosophy’s most fascinating topics. He often describes philosophy as "thinking in slow motion," where assumptions are questioned, nothing is taken for granted, and healthy skepticism plays a pivotal role in forming true beliefs. He believes that philosophy is a collaborative effort practiced in discussion and values the unique lived experiences students bring to the classroom.
