Amy Strobel is a native ASL user, born to Deaf parents, and raised in Milton, Ontario, Canada. She moved to Fresno, California to attend Fresno State and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics. After interpreting professionally for about 18 years, Amy attended the University of North Florida and earned her Master of Science in ASL/English Interpreting Pedagogy. She loves teaching full-time at Fresno City College and enjoys interpreting to stay current in the field. Amy has worked in a wide variety of settings including K-12, higher education, theatrical, Video Relay, medical, and more.
She is fascinated with the nuances of language and culture and how that impacts the work of interpreters. Her goal is to foster interpreters with Deaf heart, encourage them to analyze meaning, and for them to become nationally certified.
Amy is blessed to be a wife and mama and loves to CrossFit in her free time!
