Professor Ria Williams grew up in a Navy family and moved around before settling in the Central Valley in 1991.  She graduated from Lemoore High School in 2001 and attended West Hills Community College in Lemoore before transferring to Fresno State University.  While at FSU, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Credential focus and went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree with Distinction in Creative Writing.  While Prof. Williams thought she'd teach K-12 students, teaching college students during her grad program opened a new door that she happily jumped through.  She's been teaching English full-time at Fresno City since 2015 and also works with the Umoja community for African American students and the State Center Federation of Teachers Union.  In her free time, she enjoys cooking, creative writing, crafts, and her cat.
