Raised in California and lived in the East Bay, Los Angeles, and Fresno. After raising her three children and volunteering for numerous organizations like Help in Emotional Trouble, School Site Council, and PTA within FUSD, and Hinds Hospice as a Respite Volunteer, she started classes at Fresno City College, volunteered in the Microbiology lab, and wrote the Microbiology Lab Manual with Professor Emeritus Rosemary Waters.
She had internships Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, California, Department of Energy for Pre-service Teachers, and Fresno Collaborative for Excellence in the Preparation of Teachers. Joined Fresno City College as Adjunct faculty in 2001 and Full-time Faculty in 2005.
