Lee is a Fresno local who was a student at both Fresno City College and Fresno State University. She discovered her love of microbiology at FCC and entered a microbiology lab at Fresno State. Her research focused on microbial communities and antibiotic resistance in the American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos).
