Paul Gilmore has taught history at Fresno City College for over twenty years. He teaches classes in the History of Business, Labor, and Technology, the History of the American Civil Rights Movement, the History of California, US History and History of the Modern World. He has also taught other specialty courses and the Global Issues class for the Global Studies Program. Professor Gilmore has always been most interested in the history of American social movements – labor, civil rights, the women’s movement – and how they have challenged power and changed our world.

Education

Paul received his B.A. in History at Furman University, and then an M.A. in History at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Finally, he earned an M.S. in the History of Technology at Georgia Tech, where he studied, among other things, the history of grocery store workers and supermarkets.
