Culinary Ice Cream Competition Churns Tasty Creations
For the third year in a row, Fresno City College Culinary Arts department and Ampersand Ice Cream will team up to find the new flavor of the month to be featured at the Ice Cream shop located down the street from FCC.
On Tuesday, April 17, the owners of Ampersand Ice Cream will judge student created ice creams in Chef Jonathan Davey’s Advanced Food Preparation class. Judging will begin at 9:15 a.m. in Art HomeEc Building, room 110. Sans any brain freeze issues, the judging should only take about 10-15 minutes. This year, students are churning ice cream with an ice cream maker gifted to the FCC program by Ampersand Ice Cream.
Typically, the top four flavors are featured at Ampersand Ice Cream for a weekend. The top-selling flavor is then featured for one month. Ampersand Ice Cream is located at 1940 N. Echo Avenue, near Fresno High School.
