FCC Men's Soccer Coaches named National College Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches
Congratulations are in order to Fresno City College head men’s soccer coach Eric Solberg and his team of assistant coaches today. They were named as one of the United Soccer Coaches 2019 National Staff of the Year recipients. The association gives the award annually for NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA and Junior College men’s and women’s soccer, as voted on by the coaches in each division. FCC topped the list in the Junior College III Men’s category.
The award recognizes the hard work of Solberg and assistants Nick Andersen, Nehemias Blanco, Gabe Banuelos and Hugo Caballero. This year they led the FCC men’s team to a second state championship in the last three years by beating previously unbeaten Mt. San Antonio College in the finals. FCC finished the season with 21 shutouts, which was best in the state. They only allowed seven goals the whole year.
“This has been a tremendous year for our Soccer program. It is now being capped off with this national award. I have surrounded myself with tremendous players and staff,” Solberg said. “They are quite simply the best!”
They will be honored at the United Soccer Coaches Awards Banquet on Jan. 17, 2020 at the Baltimore Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
