Veterans Day Ceremony November 8, 2019
Fresno City College cordially invites you to attend this year's Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, November 8, 2019. The ceremony honors all veterans with special tribute this year to participants of the Honor Flight program. This includes all veterans who have traveled to Washington, D.C. and their guardians. Honor Flight Vice President, Paul Loeffler, will be our keynote speaker. The ceremony will feature a wreath laying, bagpipes, riffle salute and the playing of taps.
In addition, the annual Citizen Solider award will be presented. Peter Cacossa, Fresno City College Fire Academy Director, is this year's recipient. Peter graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2006. He served in the US Army for over six years, first as a First Lieutenant from January 2007 to November 2009. He served as a Captain from November 2009 to May 2015 which included 18 months in Iraq and a year in South Korea. In 2016, he joined the FCC faculty as a Coordinator and instructor at the Fire Academy and this year became the director.
Peter is a proven leader and an exemplification of integrity and grit. At this year's American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, he walked 24 hours non-stop.
The ceremony will begin at 12 Noon and will be held in front of FCC's Veterans Peace Memorial. Please feel free to invite family and friends to attend. A reception will follow. Attendance is free.
