Giving Tuesday Celebration Planned December 3
Fresno City College is grateful to all those who generously contributed to the #GivingTuesday effort.
- Lance-Kashian and Company who donated $10,000
- Fresno Councilmember Esmeralda Soria who donated $5,000
The following provided matching funds:
- Gina Cuttone, State Center Community College Foundation Board President and her husband Shawn Patty who matched $2,500
- Integrated Prescription Management (IPM) who matched $5,000
The #GivingTuesday funds that were raised on November 30 are crucial to help Fresno City College students who have food insecurities which creates a hardship as they attend classes and try to make ends meet for their families.
The Ram Pantry is a free program open to all students currently enrolled at the college. The Ram Pantry began with a small group of faculty and staff in 2015 starting out once a week each Friday. The current pantry location in the Bookstore Building opened on December 1, 2017.
When the COVID-19 pandemic started there was an acute need for the pantry to stay open and provide food and necessities to students. Curbside service was provided with pre-bagged groceries for students and their families at the height of the pandemic. Grocery items are now organized in a safe outdoor environment on the patio area where students can shop for what they need.
Monies raised by #GivingTuesday help ensure that Fresno City College students will continue to receive this vital service. Donations continue to be accepted online.
