Art Space Gallery Features Audia Yvonne Dixions Incredible Landscapes on Life
The Fresno City College Art Space Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Fresno-based artist Audia Yvonne Dixon (b.1992) who creates large scale, atmospheric oil paintings that reflect on Black girlhood and the nostalgia of childhood. Dixon paints her subjects into dreamlike landscapes that, while lush and beautiful, contain hints of tension and ecological threat.
Audia Yvonne Dixon comes from a family of artists and matriarchs who continue to influence her work. She holds a BA in Art and an MA in Studio Art from CSU-Fresno. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and public art projects, including at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport; the graduate thesis exhibition at the Phebe Conley Gallery at CSU-Fresno (both 2021); collaborative murals Know your Soil, Grow in Earth & Rest and Rising Together, both part of Dulce Upfront’s “Lift Every Voice and Sing” mural tour; and a solo exhibition at 1418 Fulton in Downtown Fresno (2020).
The Art Space Gallery is the main art exhibition space of Fresno City College, serving as an educational space for the Fine Arts program and as an avenue of outreach to students and the broader Fresno community. The Gallery presents several exhibitions annually, including shows by internationally and nationally known artists, local and emerging artists, FCC faculty, and students. Art Space Gallery is committed to developing an inclusive exhibition program that reflects the diversity and vibrance of Fresno City College’s student population, and of our broader community.
