On April 3, home team Fresno City College Rams will face its District rival, the Reedley College Tigers, in an afternoon baseball match in Chukchansi Park. The game will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a pre-game special recognition for FCC head Coach Ron Scott beginning at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Prior to the game, we will celebrate Fresno City College head baseball coach Ron Scott who is now the all-time winningest coach in California community college baseball history. Ron broke the record on February 15, when the Rams beat Hartnell College 17-3 to give him his 1,073rd win. With that win, he passed the 1,072-record set by retired Santa Ana College coach Don Sneddon in 2014. Since then, Ron continues to break the record with each Rams win. To date, he has added another 14 wins to now have a 1,087 record (as of March 25).
Game tickets are all $5 each. An MVP Ticket is $35 and includes the game ticket and a post-game celebration in the Grizzlies Kodiak Club which will also benefit FCC Baseball. Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite or at the gate.
Coach Scott, in his 33rd season at FCC, has won 22 conference championships, 9 final four appearances and one state championship (1992). Fresno City College sits at the top of the Central Valley Conference standings which also includes Reedley College in fourth place. The Tigers are led by head coach Steve Pearse who is now in his 12th year with Reedley.
This is the first time the two teams will play in Chukchansi Park as the Fresno Grizzlies prepare for their own season opener the following week.
