Police Academy Class 166 Completes Basic Training Program
Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama is the guest speaker at the Basic Police Academy Completion Ceremony for Class #166. The class of 47 cadets will celebrate the end of their basic police training on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at CrossCity Church, 2777 E. Nees Avenue in Fresno.
Certificates will be presented by Police Academy director Gary Fief, Dean Dr. Becky Barabe, Kerman PD Chief John golden, Kingsburg PD Chief Neil Dadian and Police Academy recruit training officer Jon Pino. Awards will be given for top physical training, law enforcement skills, academics and all-around student.
Class #166 began their training on September, 27, 2021. The cadets successfully completed the Academy’s 1030-hour intensive format passing over 42 topical areas including criminal law, investigations, patrol and juvenile procedures, vehicle operations, traffic, emergency management, first aid, professionalism and ethics, physical training, and many other related subjects.
The Police Academy is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to present the basic academy course. Graduates are eligible to be hired as a police officer, deputy sheriff or district attorney investigator, Department of Insurance Investigator, Department of Motor Vehicles Investigator or Alcohol Beverage Control Investigator anywhere in California. Several other states recognize this certificate for employment.
Forty-one of the cadets have already been offered jobs at local agencies including the Fresno and Madera Sheriff’s departments, police departments in Fresno, Clovis, Madera, Coalinga, Porterville, Atascadero and Fresno State. Other employment offers are pending. Agency representatives will present badges to their hired cadets at the ceremony.
