2023 Pride Flag Raising Event
Fresno City College will hold its 3rd Annual Pride Flag Raising ceremony on June 1, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at the flag pole in front of Building A, near the campus entrance off of Maroa Avenue. Since 2021, the State Center Community College District Board of Trustees have passed resolutions that formally recognize all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer+ (LGBTQ+) people that come from all walks of life including race, ethnicity, religion, ancestry, national origin, economic status, physical or mental ability, medical condition, sex, or gender identity or expression. A similar resolution for 2023 will be on the SCCCD board agenda at their June 6 meeting for adoption.
June was declared “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month” by President Bill Clinton, on June 2, 2000, with President Barack Obama expanding the commemoration by declaring June as “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month” in 2011.
