Police Academy Class 171 Completion Ceremony
Nearly all of the 40 graduation cadets in Class #171 are affiliated with agencies and are ready to go to work. The Basic Academy Completion Ceremony for Class #171 is June 30 at 3:00pm and will take place at CrossCity Church, 2777 E. Nees Avenue, Fresno.
Kerman Police Department Police Chief John Golden is the keynote speaker. Chief Golden began his professional law enforcement career with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and graduated top of his class from Fresno City College Police Academy Class 24. After a 33 year career with the Fresno Sheriff's Office, he retired in 2015, and two days later the Kerman Police Department hired him in a succession planning move for Chief of Police.
The cadets successfully completed the Academy's 1030-hour intensive format passing over 42 topical areas criminal law, investigations, patrol and juvenile procedures, vehicle operations, traffic, emergency management, first aid, professionalism and ethics, physical training, and many other related subjects.
The Police Academy is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to present the basic academy course. Graduates are eligible to be hired as a police officer, deputy sheriff or district attorney investigator, Department of Insurance Investigator, Department of Motor Vehicles Investigator or Alcohol Beverage Control Investigator anywhere in California. Several other states recognize this certificate for employment.
Of the 40 cadets, 37 have been offered jobs at local agencies and will be receiving their badges at the ceremony.
