City Councilmember partners with Consulate of Mexico and Calviva Health to announce scholarship opportunity for AB540 students
Fresno, CA. - Councilmember Miguel Arias and the State Community College Center Foundation are excited to announce donations from the Consulate of Mexico and CalViva Health for Fresno AB540 students. The AB540 scholarshipfund was initiated by the Consulate of Mexico and served as a motivation to seek matching dollars from Councilmember Miguel Arias and CalViva Health.
Signed into law in October 2001, California Assembly Bill 540 (AB 540)mandates that students who meet specific requirements shall be exempt from paying nonresident tuition at all public colleges and universities. Thereafter it was adopted by all three public higher education systems in California, which includethe California Community Colleges (CCC), the California State University (CSU), and the University of California (UC) systems.
