New Transfer Agreement Strengthens Important Partnership
Fresno City College and Fresno State will sign a first-of-its-kind agreement on Friday, April 5 that will solidify and fortify an already strong transfer partnership.
A memo of understanding to establish the City to State Transfer Program will be signed by FCC President Robert Pimentel and Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Fresno City College Library. Mascots Sam the Ram and Fresno State’s Time Out will also be on hand to celebrate.
The City to State Transfer Program is intended to help streamline and improve the transfer process so that FCC continues its status of being the largest transfer feeder community college to Fresno State.
“It is important for Fresno City College to enter into this formal partnership so that our students have a direct line to Fresno State to ensure their success at the university level. While FCC students constitute the majority of transfer students each year to Fresno State, this agreement will help increase that number while also advancing our College Mission and equity goals,” said FCC President Robert Pimentel.
President Pimental adds that the ultimate goal is to increase transfer rates for disproportionately impacted FCC students including African American and Hispanic Latino students and those who are LGBTQ+.
“Fresno City College is a key educational partner in elevating the quality of life in our region; I am very pleased to partner with President Pimentel on this significant collaboration,” said Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval. “This MOU will streamline the transfer process between Fresno City and Fresno State, helping remove barriers to Fresno State –a clear choice for our talented Fresno City College students, as we are a university with unparalleled value, rankings, and supportive community.”
The agreement calls for the hiring of a dedicated counselor at FCC who is familiar with the transfer process and curriculums of both institutions. FCC and Fresno State will equally fund this dual position. The three-year agreement will go into effect by this fall.
The agreement is similar to the transfer MOU signed with UC Merced in 2022.
