Night Market and AsianFest this Weekend at Fresno City College
Asian American Month’s featured events, Night Market and AsianFest, take place this weekend at Fresno City College. Both are popular community events coordinated by the Asian American Faculty & Staff Association (AAFASA) at Fresno City College to celebrate Asian American representation and culture on the campus and in the community.
Night Market
The Fresno City College Night Market is on Friday, April 26 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in Veterans Square, College Mall, and the Cafeteria Patio. Admission and parking are free.
The Night Market features a Sake and Beer Garden fundraiser for student scholarships at Fresno City College. Savor, sip, and dance under the stars! Sample various sakes and beers (must be 21+) and enjoy an evening celebrating Asian American culture! Free admission, cash bar.
Proceeds benefit Asian American scholarships at Fresno City College. Enjoy strolling the campus to shop for global treasures while listening to live music from The Secret Chiefs, a local band that features Fresno City College friends.
AsianFest
AsianFest is on Saturday, April 27, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. throughout the Fresno City College campus. Admission and parking are free.
AsianFest celebrates Asian American culture and showcases the talents of community performers, martial artists, and cultural organizations. Visitors experience culture through all senses with colorful performances, exhibits, demonstrations, crafts, and food.
AsianFest delights with an Anime & Cosplay world complete with Anime wrapped cars and vendors. Kids can learn Origami and cultural crafts and guests can stroll the global vendor market and visit the Sake & Beer Garden! Experience a whirlwind of culture in one amazing day at AsianFest!
“AsianFest also promotes the importance of cultural diversity and inclusion by showcasing the cultural heritage of the thriving Central Valley community,” said Sue Yang, AsianFest Coordinator. “It provides a fun family experience that nurtures community collaboration and builds lifelong friendships. It also enhances the ethnic pride and self-esteem of all the participating community members.”
