Northern California Football Conference Week 5 Preview
One of the most anticipated games of the week will see the undefeated Fresno City College Rams (4-0) take on the two-time defending Northern California Champions, the College of San Mateo (3-1). Fresno City College is led by quarterbacks Ryan Markarian (Clovis West) and Ya'J Vance (Edison), who have been instrumental in the Rams' success, averaging over 200 passing yards per game. Jaylon Jones (Central) leads the Rams' defense with 3 interceptions. Last Saturday, Fresno defeated City College of San Francisco, 21-7.
The history of the FCC-CCSF football rivalry began in 1981 with its only tie, 24-24, in San Francisco. FCC won 35-24 at Fresno in 1982. It took until 2007 for FCC to win again, 19-16 in San Francisco. A 24-17 home win in 2008 made it 2-in-a-row for FCC.
On the other side, College of San Mateo is led by Lolo Mataele, who has rushed for 386 yards and 6 touchdowns in 4 games. John Gayer and Trevon Watson lead the Bulldogs' defense with 4 sacks and 2 interceptions, respectively.
