First Year Experience (FYE)

Interested in FYE?

Experience your first year of college with FYE! Designed for incoming Fresno City College students who are undecided or unsure of their major, the First Year Experience Program provides comprehensive support to help you transition smoothly into college life. We're all about building a community where you belong, fostering connections, and promoting academic excellence through equitable practices. You'll benefit from cohorted classes with peers, and dedicated instructors and counselors who are here to guide you every step of the way.

FYE Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility is focused on the following key components:

2024/2025 High school graduate
Fresno City College Enrollment
Have not completed English-1A (C-1000) and Counseling-48, or the equivalent
Should not have taken AP classes, and college classes through Dual Enrollment or High School Enrichment (exceptions apply, see Welcome Center counselor for eligibility details).

Steps to becoming an FYE Student

Submit an application

2025-26 APPLICATION

Accept your FYE offer

Upon availability, you'll receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. If accepted, you'll be invited to complete a student survey to confirm your enrollment.

Enroll in FYE cohorted classes

Once your enrollment is confirmed, you will receive notification of the specific FYE cohorted course(s) you need to register for. If you require assistance with FYE course registration, please come to the Welcome Center at 1525 E. Weldon Ave, Fresno CA 93704 to speak with an FYE counselor or reach out to the FYE Office at fye@fresnocitycollege.edu.

Students must stay enrolled in all assigned FYE cohort classes.
